Just before the weekend, we received a phone call with a nice news item: Maria in a very few days will enter the preschool where she was in waiting list, yippie!!

Next Wednesday will be the X-day, please remember us because it'll be a pivotal moment both for me and for her, the very first step toward the adults world and the very first separation between us!

One of our very close friends works as teacher in that school and during this upcoming academic year she'll be there for 3 y.o. children. I'm in seventh heaven only for this reason because I'm sure that Maria will be in very good hands and I believe that the integration (maybe?) will be quite serene because that teacher will be a sort of reference point for Maria in the school.

As we always have to stand out and to do the opposite thinking, we decided to create a little gift for that teacher and friend who will go with Maria along this very thorny and very important academic year (we'll deliver it by hand and in advance, because it'll be only for her and not for the other teachers, who we didn't know yet...we'll think about them in June 2014)!

Sorry for the blurry image (taken with an old Nokia cell phone)

DIY Pencils vase "Back-to-school" as teacher gift (with matching card)

Dettaglio del sentiment ~ Detail of the sentiment

I used 34 pencils glued together with hot glue to an empty can for beans, I tied them with a fuchsia organza ribbon and I glued a sentiment of gratitude to help Maria grow with a thick double-sided tape!
The teacher will be able then to use the fabric sunflowers which we provided into the vase or to fill it with real flowers!

With this nice and very quick project, only with the pencils vase and not with the matching card, I participate in the "Dream Challenge #8.13" by Scrap Dreams blog.
